Who were the guys injured? Parent (who we now know can't be trusted to stay healthy), and Jones (who is a #7 for LA - he's not a regular, and we paid him to be a #3 no less). Jones is a healthy scratch now, despite having good offensive numbers.
Proof that his contract is absurd, AND that his contract is not necessarily then only reason he was sent to the Phantoms.
Parent was switched for Sbisa as it was. Paul Holmgren can say what he wants, if Parent didn't get hurt in preseason, Sbisa would have never stayed up with us last year, at least beyond the first 9 games.
While Ossi is not amazing, it should be noted that when Ossi was getting 20 minutes a night is when the team was at it's best during the season. Once his ice time started going away, so did the wins (at least against good teams).
Stevens tried to fix something that wasn't broken. Alberts and Jones never deserved to move ahead of Ossi. Alberts and Jones both today play the 6/7 role for the teams they're on.
Ossi's been named an all-star in the KHL, and while it's not the NHL, it can't be that far off from being Randy Jones or Andrew Alberts -- guys just hanging on.
