It's on defensive ability only. Boyle is great, but isn't exactly up there purely in terms of defensive ability. As for Vlasic's poor QUALCOMP, it's reflected in his actual EVGAA and SHGAA. His EVGAA is the lowest (by far) among guys who's SHGAA isn't absolute crap. (And his SHGAA is still 3rd best in the list.) Change his qualcomp numbers and his GAA numbers would probably go up a bit, but not much higher that Keith and Lidstrom. Just look at the Chicago game. While every other dman was absolute crap in the 1st 10 minutes, only Vlasic seemed competent.
