Perhaps yes, but there was more talk in Montréal circles about Pouliot and Brulé. Kopitar wasn't as well known as the kids playing in Canada. As for Price, Timmins was thinking about the long-range needs of the Habs at the most important position on the ice. Huet was seen as only a temporary fix, and Halak was an unknown at the time of the 2005 draft. Gainey must have agreed with Timmins.
