An article from February 4:

When a Red Wings forward has become a press box fixture because Brad May and Kirk Maltby have out-played him, you'd think that that player should know he's in dire straits (with no offense to May or Maltby intended) in the eyes of Detroit's coaching staff, but Ville Leino insisted to's own Ansar Khan that he has no worries regarding his status...

February 4, "You can't really think about it,'' Leino said. "Obviously, it's crossed everybody's mind who's on the (bubble). It's going to happen if it's going to happen. Nothing you can do about it right now.''

The Red Wings need to trim about $700,000 to get under the salary cap before activating Johan Franzen, who is scheduled to return Tuesday. Leino, a healthy scratch the past six games, appears most vulnerable to being traded for future considerations or waived. He has struggled during his rookie season, with four goals, seven points and a minus-10 rating in 42 games.

"On the ice right now, I feel pretty good. I feel I'm practicing and doing the stuff I used to do,'' Leino said. "I actually feel pretty confident. We'll see what's going to happen now.''

25 years ago, a horse from Florida made international headlines and his connections stole the hearts of many

"You couldn't get it to look that way in a movie if you took fifty takes," Al Michaels.

"He's a winner, he's a winner, he's a winner. You won the Kentucky Derby."
