That's why a lot of AHL vets give up on two way contracts so they can just make some money while still playing.
Unless this part of the CBA has changed, but as far as I know it hasn't.
The last I heard it was $100,000 on straight AHL only contracts.
As far as two way contracts I have no idea what the limit is. I know the Oilers paid Dean Arsene $170,000 and Chris Minard $260,000 on the AHL portion of their 2 way NHL deals.
The top AHL free agents these days command 2-300,000 range these days on the AHL portion of their deals.
