Because he is a left shot, thus, his forehand is towards the middle of the ice, thus giving him a better angle to take shots and also allowing the cross ice one timer. Not to mention, he's largely a RW this year for Columbus.

The real question is, why is Richards there? I don't like Iginla playing with Crosby and Nash (or Staal) even strength, but he'd be a much better fit on the PP.
