Well those are good points deathfromabove. Rather than merge all teams, why not just create a central salary bargaining team that works for the league, and all contracts are negotiated between agents and this one office. Which presumably would remain consistent and sympathetic to all its teams.

Why take it to the courts? The players arent evil. If it makes sense and is not exploiting, surely it could be negotiated. If you want to win it in an antitrust battle, you would probably lose things like the right to restrict free agency or draft players. Even the coursts will push for a negotiated solution.
