The revitalized Blue Jackets were able to complete a come-from-behind victory at home last night in a crucial Central Division matchup against the rival St. Louis Blues.
St. Louis stormed ahead with two early goals on Columbus starter Dwayne Roloson before the Jackets turned things around, putting three goals of their own (including two from Craig Conroy with the man advantage) past the Blues' Christobal Huet before the close of the first period. That was it for fireworks, as both Roloson and Huet closed the door for the next 40 minutes, eventually making Conroy's second powerplay marker stand up as the game winner.
The win puts Columbus just 4 points behind the Blues for the Central Division lead, with 4 games in hand. The Detroit Red Wings are right in the mix as well, just 2 points behind the Jackets with the same number of games remaining. Falling slightly behind the pace is the Nashville Predators, who are sitting just one point out of the playoff picture, and who trail Detroit by 5 points.
It looks like this year ore than any in recent memory the Central Division race may go down to the wire.
