I know what you're saying and you seemed to miss my point.
Kovalev in 94 could move, dig, and grind. After the injury, well we've all seen him move. Remember how awesome he was in his Pens 94 point season...then they go to playoffs and he can't make as much of an impact?
Also in 94, along with pre-knee-injury 27, we had diggers from EDM and CHI that we didn't have in 97...and still without today. (THAT'S WHAT WE SHOULD ALL BE TALKING ABOUT RIGHT NOW, NOT WEISS OR ANYTHING LIKE HIM)
My point is the playoffs are at least 5x more physical and grinding than the reg season. Most any player of skill isn't going to do anything when they are a)injury prone, b)not physical themselves and c)not surrounded by physical guys.
We have offensive tools, we don't have Tikkanens Larmers or Andersons. We have A Callahan, and that is NOT enough for playoff competition.
