For those that didn't see the WJC...Montoya was pathetic in most of the games. I would say that something was wrong in his head. I wouldn't attribute it to fundamentals. It was more like a soft goal here or there, not ready to play, lack of awareness in the net, poor judgment concerning when to play the puck, and just plain old bewilderment.
I remember one game where there was a scramble and the puck went behind the net. Montoya turned and faced the backboards, basically facing into the net. At that point I thought, "thank god he didn't slide to us."
Also, Schwarz was just short of brilliant in the WJC. He was the man on his team. I think he is far superior to both Dubnyk and Montoya. Dubnyk looked just terrible in the Canadian camp.
That being said, I am very happy with Tukonen. I think this kid will be a special player in the NHL. Remember, that he was favored to go 4th in the draft by many people. To get him at 11 is a huge break.
