I played against Kovalev
in a roller hockey league before he was dealt from the Rangers to Pitt.
I almost played against Zubov, Leetch and Graves as well.
Zubov and Kovalev were able to get in a game or 2 before Neil Smith got win of their participation and sent word that they were not allowed to risk injury and could not play.
Management wouldn't have known at all, but some beer league moron tried to mess with Alexi and told him that he'd see Alexi after the game, Alexi told him why wait and was going to pound the kids head in before things were broken up.
It's kind of eff'ed up that some moron would try to hurt an actual NHL player to make a name for them selves. Kind of sad if you ask me.
As for the talent level? what a difference. Kovy took a shot that rang off the crossbar and came back out to the high slot before the goalie moved. The hardest shot I ever saw first hand.
The good thing was that Alexy never really crossed the center line. Was just there to skate really.
it was a joy to skate against him.
