I know you guys might be "well fine, the Oiler fan doesn't have to endure his poor play and that's fair. However, Mark Messier is my all time favourite hockey player and I'm not going to apologize for it. Probably the last player I'll ever be a pure fan of, as he came into the NHL when I was still (fairly) young.
It's not quite the same when a 20 year old emerges and you're more than twice his age.
as long as it is in a edmonton sweater. As an organization we need to move on. Mess ended up as one of those players who didn't know when it was time to hang them up. I loved the guy, but for me he tarnished his rep for playing well beyond the standards he set for himself. Sad, but true.
