The lesser IIHF Division I nations tend to produce the odd NHLer or near NHLer now and then, I wouldn't take that as a sign of strength or improvement in the national program.
You do realize that Poland unlike Lithuania, less than 10 years ago was amongst the top Division I nations and even played at the elite level in 2002, right?
It´s questionable what the future will bring for Poland, while their U18 team finished just second right behind Belarus at the 2009 U18 WHC Division, they´re U20 team was relegated to Division II just last December.
