Joseph can be dealt though trade or waivers (what it amounts to is the cash worth the players since he can be gained either way)
Joseph can be had for 8million off waivers with no sacrifice to roster players.
OR
5 million a year for Joseph in this trade Not nothing its 3 MILLION dollars in savings a year for the avs.
So the question u have to ask yourself is..
Jason Smith+3million per annum> Skoula+Tanguay
Which the unanimous answer would be no. Meaning the deal is not balanced and would be picking him off waivers if they want him.
