I think you have to wait and see with young players. Hemsky had a pretty damn good rookie season, and hopefully he can build on it. However, he made a massive step in a year, from QMJHL star to NHL regular in a calendar year. It seems to me that there's a strong possibility that he'll take a smaller step forward this season, say 50 points.

I hope he steps up, but who was the last young Oiler forward to take two giants steps forward two seasons in a row. Comrie didn't, Ryan Smyth did (his season as a 20 year old was his second, the 39 goal one).

Hemsky's season as a 19 year old was more impressive than Smyth's, and he may indeed take a step forward that takes him over 60 points.

But I don't think we can count on it.
