I used to run a lot and didn't get a whole lot of results. Felt great, but in Michigan, it's cold enough that for much of the year it's a pain to get outside. I just do grass drill style exercises before bed. 20 squats, 15 situps, 10 pushups, 1 minute rest, and then repeat for 30 minutes. If you have sleeping problems, try doing around 20 sets, take a hot shower, and hit the sack. I'm usually out like a light.
