Boston College denied the University of Wisconsin men's hockey team its seventh NCAA title as the Eagles blanked the Badgers 5-0 in front of a record-breaking 37,592 fans in the 2010 NCAA national championship game at Detroit’s Ford Field on Saturday night.

Wisconsin (28-11-4) was led by the play of junior goaltender Scott Gudmandson (Sherwood Park, Alberta), who turned away 21 shots by the Eagles.

In a rematch of the 2006 national title game when the Badgers defeated BC 2-1, the Eagles returned the favor to earn their fourth NCAA title. Boston College (29-10-3) erupted for four third-period goals after holding a slim 1-0 lead through the majority of the game.

The Eagles outshot the Badgers 26-20, and BC goalie John Muse made 20 saves as Boston College held UW scoreless. The game marked just the third time Wisconsin was shut out this season. UW went 0-for-3 on the power play while holding the Eagles to 2-for-5 with the man advantage.
