I agree. I've had several fingers and my whole hand saved thanks to very protective gloves. Faceoffs inevitably lead to nasty slashes, ditto for playing against a-holes, so safety is a good idea. But the long and short of it is that a lot of mid level gloves have plenty of protection, but are too bulky or immobile.
