This is the natural thing ... a reflex for survival to the species. When someone is loosing, you will not kill him. Therefore it can be assimilated to a code. This "code" is a learned reflex of submission ... when someone submits to you ... you will stop hitting.

Staged is arranged in advance. The exemple of Laraque and Ivanans could be a valid one. (imo)
