What could have helped the Flyers that season was Mark Howe re-signing but he went onto Detroit that summer. Though they finished in fifth place, they were just four points from a third place finish. Also, their intra-division rivals were so strong those years -- the Stanley Cup champs from 1991, 1992, 1994 and 1995 all came from the division(s).

Mulvenna only played because Andre Lomakin was injured for the opener. Lomakin came back and Mulvenna..... into the record books.
