Again, trade value has nothing to do with it. The point of having both is for them to keep eachother competitive and honest. The point is to see which one will be the better in the long run. The point is NOT to be able to trade one while their value is high. You don't treat goalies like other assets. The value in keeping the right guy (which means making a decision only after each has proven themselves over 2-3 years in the NHL) far outweighs the risk of the one you don't keep having lost value by the time you make a decision.

The goalie situations of other teams has absolutely nothing to do with what we will or should do with our goalies.
