Even Zetterberg had 4 seasons of 30+ goals and an average of over 70+ points. Not to mention his playoff performances in 08 and 09.
Now you think it's smart to sign Halak to a similar deal with his 101 games of regular season experience, with 45 games being his max? Is he able to carry the load for 60+ games in the regular season like Bobby Lu? Or has his 9-9 playoff record this year convinced you? There was talk on how he was worn out in this years playoffs.
So by your standards, Phoenix should have locked up Peter Meuller to a 15 year deal for a cap friendly 4 million a year, after his rookie season right?
And man, Columbus was stupid for not signing Leclair to a 10 year deal after that 07/08 season! 9 shut-outs! Get him signed to 10 years now before you have to pay 6 million a year for this guy!
LA is stupid to sign Quick to a 3 year deal instead of a 15 year deal, right?
Quick, Leclaire and Mueller all have different skill levels from one other. Skill level needs to be taken into consideration in determining length and value of contract. Halak is by far superior to leclaire or Quick. Apples and clementines.
