That 5% bump held by the NHLPA accounted for $2.74 million last June. Larry Brooks wrote about the escalator last summer. I remember reading it then and found it

Instead of the cap decreasing from $56.7 million to $54.06 million,it increased by $100,000 to $56.8 million with the 5% bump.

$56.8 million with the same $2.74 million is $59.54 million.

Bettman said "a little over $2 million" with the 5% bump
