Other than Faulk, I see no "solid d-men" reaching for ahead of Kabanov. Personally, I may have gone with Faulk, but you cannot fault taking Kabonov at #31. He may have fallen in the last few months, but not one of the d-men you suggest being available has ever been valued as high as he has.

Prospects are always a crapshoot and you take your best shot. And Kabonov, if he pans out, will look like a brilliant steal at #31. Any of those d-men will likely project as a "good pick" at #31.

Seriously, if you're the Oilers, what is the risk of Kabanov at 31 over a mixed-bag of d-men with potential?

I see no issue with that pick.
