I'm with Steve, although I'm not sure they'll get somebody better. I do think they'll get somebody servicable for a cheaper price. Actually, it clears the way nicely for Seidenberg; he's really been ready for the NHL for awhile now.

Boy, the days of using $6M guys like Tony Amonte in a supporting role are definitely over, and that's fine by me. Typical "role" players like Sharp, Eager, Jones, etc. who can log reliable ice time and don't have the service time to demand free agent salaries are going to be more valuable than ever. I suppose it's not just enough for an organization to hit home runs like Carter and Richards, but also find guys who can play in the NHL.

Can anybody else say "college players?"
