Modano may be a hockey icon to you, but he is not a Minnesota hockey icon. Neal Broten absolutely is.

Went to several state tourneys, scored the game winning goal for the gophers to win the national title, was on the '80 olympic team, was part of a couple of North Stars Stanley Cup Finals runs... He literally played at every level possible, and did it all while in Minnesota! (yes, including the U.S. Olympic team, as it based it's training etc here in the twin cities!)

Modano was drafted in '88, and was gone in '93. Not even close to getting Minnesota Hockey icon status... especially when you look at the entire span of Broten's H.S. through NHL career comparison!
