Contract for Hamhuis

I made that thread to get some opinions on how much Hamhuis should make, and that with some reasoning.

1. Dan Hamhuis

Height: 6-1
Weight: 209lbs
Age: 27 (13/12/1982)
Pro Experience: 8 Years: 6 NHL Seasons (483 Games, 28 PO Games), 2 AHL Seasons (144 Games)

2. Scouting Report

Quote:
Assets: Can play a sound defensive game, log big minutes and also be used in a shutdown role. Moves the puck well out of the defensive zone. Has loads of hockey sense.

Flaws: Isn't a physical defenseman, which somewhat limits his effectiveness against big NHL forwards. Is also a limited contributor in the offensive zone.
3. Play through his last Contract

4. Comparable Defensemen - (between 26 and 30 years old; five or more seasons played; two-way defender; 70+ games; around 25 points; 22 to 24 minutes; penalty killer)
  • Keith Ballard ($4.2MM, signed 2009)
  • Robyn Regehr ($4.0MM, signed 2008)
  • Brad Stuart ($3.75MM, signed 2008)
  • Barrett Jackman ($3.625MM, signed 2008)
  • Chris Phillips ($3.5MM, signed 2007)

I think Regehr and Stuart are the most comparable players, around $3.75MM sound about right for Hamhuis. Any other players you can think off, that compare to Hamhuis?
