As much as I've criticized Hartnell -- it may take a lot to get him. First, he'd have to waive. Second, management would have to feel pressure about the cap, which Holmgren has dismissed, but do you believe it? Third, if you're management, you may believe that his relationship woes are less significant now and his head is back in the game, which he showed in the playoffs. He could return to 30 goal vicinity form. Fourth, if Asham leaves, it increases Hartnell's value even more.

A lot of variables determine his future and have to go a certain way for him to get moved.

Even with my dislike of his play last year, his playoff run really made a statement that can't be overlooked as a GM. You gotta be thinking: "If he can play this way, I really need to hang onto this guy-- especially with our log jam at center, we need talented wingers and a PP front porch guy and he can be both, especially with Knubs gone."
