Hudler filed for arbitration and an arbitrator determined his salary. The KHL claimed that was not a contract. A third party determined the compensation. To the KHL,that's not a contract. Detroit allowed Hudler to play in the KHL. They didn't fight it. The Russian team folded and Hudler came back to the NHL.
The NHL and KHL have a no poaching agreement. Considering Brashear has a NHL contract...He can't play there while under contract to the Rangers and w/o their permission. They still have the cap hit.
Brashear acts as his own agent. Another issue.
The Rangers might be better off just buying him out. Take the $1.4 million cap hit for this season and pay Brashear $800,000 plus over two years and be done with his guy.
