Hahaha, been there, done that. I feel your pain.
If you're one of the better players on your team, it's up to you to quarterback your team even if you're in goal.
Basically, what it means is communication and leadership. Call out plays to your defensemans as they may not have the greater on-ice vision when they're under pressure. You however, do when you're not directly facing a shot.
Call out to the defensemends where the break out exits are. They're not always going to be along the boards if the opposition is reading that.
Call out where the open guy is for breakouts, or call out the open oppositional players so that a defensmen, winger or the center can cover.
And most importantly,
If you're the better player, call out where the puck is going and direct your player in the zone to meet it. So many times in my bush league that a defenseman wraps the puck along the boards, only to be picked up by an opposing player because my wingers can't read plays. Read it for them. Be vocal.
