You realize right that Washington (Ovechkin) and Pittsburgh (Malkin) picked #1 and #2 in the draft meaning they are among the worst teams in the NHL ??.

and that the NHL is set up so that the TOP ranked prospects are drafted by the teams that finish in the bottom of the standings ..

Here are the Award winners in the past .. and often they are not from the worst teams in fact ..
