Nick Boynton - he's played through several injuries since turning pro... has diabetes, even stood up to Peter Worrell (half a foot taller and 30-40 lbs. heavier than Nick)...
Chris Ferraro - gave up hockey for more than a season to be at his dying wife's bedside. They'd been married only 3 months when she was diagnosed with stomach cancer. She died 13 months later, and he's resumed playing hockey alongside his twin brother (both now in the Phoenix organization). Every day is a struggle for him since he lost Jen.
Jamie McLennan - battling back to play after suffering from bacterial meningitis.
Tony Granato - coming back to play after undergoing brain surgery.
Saku Koivu, John Cullen, Mario Lemieux - coming back to play after struggles with cancer.
Lots and lots of players play through injuries, chronic pain, etc. They're all pretty courageous when it comes right down to it, because any hockey player is one fluke incident away from a career-ending injury.
