It could be 7 years until we know how this turns out. For example, we're still waiting to see how Klein and Sulzer turn out from the 2003 draft.
Just about every first round selection has some press saying their a huge sleeper and a great pick, so I take all the draft media stuff with a grain of salt. There are people who do this for the full time job, and it's still a huge unknown who's going to pan out in NHL. You're drafting 18 year olds playing in tons of different leagues, tons of countries, against varying levels of competition. I've given up on trying to figure out what they're going to do. We've got no choice but to wait it out and see what happens.
Klein is a legit #4 d-man at the NHL level. Sulzer is looking more like trade bait / career AHL player. How their skills have turned out compared to projections at age 18 are now known.
