Ok so they went a little over the threshold and signed him at essentially 1.5M. I still consider him a backup but I guess they feel he will play more than a backup again and they will go with the committee route...with possibly replacing Boucher with a Nitty or Ellis..heck I can even see them bringing Esche back! Again, what will mitigate my anger is signing a Volchenkov or Martin but I don't have a good feeling about it. If we're stuck with Leighton and we don't get some kind of big upgrade on the wing or D then I will be pretty upset. Flyers still have the regular season to "react" as they usually do if the goaltending doesn't pan out but then again doing so will probably lead to them bleeding assets unnecesarily again while expending valuable cap money. This is reminding me of the Beezer situation where the Flyers got their 3 for 1 deal by signing Beezer, Sandy McCarthy and Marc Bureau for essentially the money they could have offered Richter....
