Say Nabokov goes to the KHL, Turco goes to the Capitals, Ellis signs in MTL, and Mason goes to TB. What then? You do the same deal for Leighton tomorrow, possibly in a bidding war with another team.
Or you're looking at guys like Niitymaki, Biron, and Theodore. Yes Leighton Mitch Williams'd us. Yes I KNOW. But those others are almost just as poor choices at this point.
It sucks, but what can you do? There's not that much out there in terms of good goaltending which fits with the Flyers' plans.
