If you get good enough, a chisel and hammer only requires one strike and isn't too hard.

I used to do this all the time for myself and friends.. I had a mini skate shop setup in my basement for skate repairs and doing crossover work (ice to roller).

I had a press that did all of the work, but it didn't work with the damn copper rivets (I hate them).

Just get a dremel tool and it will crack them quickly. I used to change a tuuk with copper rivets using a dremel in maybe 5 minutes tops.
