I am leaning towards keeping Savard away. We traded Savard away before he became good enough to keep and we are now wanting him on our team when his skill set starts to diminish. Somehow Slats and the NYR mystique has become ingrained into the wrong parts of the brain. The logical parts. No offense being thrown out there, but its not ligical to take a player ready for the decline or possessing somewhat damaged goods with an semi-immovable contract and add him to the roster when you are in a rebuilding era.
The trick is to stay away from those type of players and contracts so that you can fly under the cap and integrate your prospects when they are ready and sign your RFA's.
