i feel myself getting into a worthless debate here, so i'll just say i don't feel liles is simply -replaceable-
well then instead of going into a debate on this, we can agree here - Liles - ALL things considered - is not simply a replacable player.
but in the scope of the discussion here - where we were just evaluating their current contributions on this ice, and nothing else - this Liles, the one you see now, without salary, or upside or anything else considered - his production and role is certainly replacable.
That's all I've been saying. Because again the discussion was about comparing the rosters today. And the Avs defense as is, right now, isnt' as great as some have pointed out here IMO. Elite top2, but replacable parts in other areas... when those "replacable" parts develop into key/core players, that elite top 2 isn't going to be as elite anymore (if it's even around then) - making the defense weaker then, even with a better Liles and Vaananen, then it is now.
But I agree that a 24 YO Liles, making $600K/yr is not an easy asset to replace on the current roster.... this is no different than Sopel of the past few years... a #3 dman, playing 20mins a night, among the better offensive dmen in the game, making $600, then $650, then $850/yr on his 3 yr deal was not an easily replacable player.... now he's making $2mill, and at that price tag, he's much more replacable now.
