Every owner wants to win... Not everyone dedicates his business to winning though. Yankees was Steinbrenner's PRIME business. For Dolan and Wang hockey is complimentary. Thus George must knew what he was doing to keep his ownership from getting into dismay. That has never been a problem for Dolans, they could run it clueless...
