You still must take into account that most, if not all, of these german pro teams are not managed as corporations (we may subtract the Anschutz lead franchises here), but as Kingdoms where the King (aka President) of the club acts as if there wouldn't be a real world outside.

The feeling of being a "High Roller" seems to pave the way when economical decisions are to be made, regardless of any casualties by putting the existence of a franchise on the line.

I call this the "Weifenbach-Effect". I guess, anybody familiar with german hockey history knows what i'm referring to.
