From what you described your problem seems to be in skating, positioning and a little bit of stickhandling. These will come the more you play, learning to space yourself from the opposition so you can catch the puck cleanly and play it forward or have time to make the decision. The more on ice awerness you retain the more this problem should lessen in terms of knowing where your team mates are in the ice and where the defense is crossing into your passing lanes. Stickhandling should help retaining the puck when you do get in trouble and skating overall will help yu getting out and passed trouble.

Like I said all of this will also just come more naturaly the more you play.
