1. Tampa were closer to competing that CBJs, so aquiring a body made sense. What has value to Tampa might not have value to CBJs. To a team contending team, Handzus would have value, may be not to a rebuilding.
2. Times change. There will be this little thing called a cap. CBJ might be better off stock piling younger cheaper talent they can afford for a longer period than trading for Handzus. A prospect like Carter would interest them more than Handzus, but I suspect Philly would be thinking the same way (that Carter is cheaper and that creates more cap options).
3. UFA market is going to be crazy if the cap comes in. Its going to be a buyers market. Columbus is going to have a ton of cap room to use for these type of players. Why trade cheap young prospects for the type of players you might get for as UFAs? That's a poor use of assets in Capworld.
