“Right now, we are prepared to go to training camp with the group that we have and to give one of our younger goaltenders a good look at the number two,” Poile said. “We talk about it on a daily basis.”
Another veteran goaltender still on the market and who could provide a veteran presence is Jose Theodore, but Poile said he has not spoken to him.

“We have not talked to him at all, no,” he said.
With restricted free agents Patric Hornqvist and Cody Franson still unsigned, the Predators want to see what the financial impact of getting those two players back in the fold will be before opening up the checkbook to a goaltender from the outside. Poile said he does have an amount he envisions paying a backup, but that is subject to change.

“Yes it certainly does,” he said. “Right now in the budget I am operating, but that could be affected by what we do or don’t do on a Franson or a Hornqvist. That would probably be the order.”
Poile did say that it was unlikely the team would bring an unsigned free agent goaltender into camp on a tryout basis.
