That's what he wrote. The point is the decimal separator, hence 5.97112861 feet is just under 6 feet, or roughly 5 feet and 11.5 inch.
If he has indeed that size, I can't see how it is such a major disadvantage. There are quite a few goalies in the NHL with a comparable size, and his play in the WJC has shown that he can play. Goalies seem to be by far the biggest gamble, and thus I also don't understand why no team picked him with a 7th.
