His goals actually were the best they have ever been, too bad assists depend on other players actually scoring.

Carter and Briere's numbers were down because Hartnell was a literal rusty anchor on their other wing and ruined more offensive pressure than anyone could ever begin to quantify last season.

Again, please stop putting these ridiculous lofty expectations on 21 and 22 year olds. It usually takes multiple years before players "break out". Even Richie and Carter had 2-3 seasons of mediocrity before they started putting up PPG. Not to mention they both will likely be on a 3rd line with a scrub like last season. Also, 50% of most player's points come from the PP, which JVR may not see again this year.
The team's offense was poor last season. Richards, Carter, Briere and some of the other big names are no different. They will not be excused from criticism. And to be honest, Richards and Carter struggle because Richards and Carter (at times in the past) don't always play so hard.

Ridiculous expectations on who? Pardon me sir, but which of these players has Kuato set unrealistic expectations for? It seems you are simply making excuses for certain players to fail before they even do.
