That's what the problem is with HFBoards. Nobody ever said that he's a bust right now. He needs proper development, and that's absolutely normal. He's not anywhere close to the NHL right now. What we have right now if we don't keep him down there, is a poor version of Higgins, which is something you don't want from a 1st rounder.
The guy barely played in the AHL at all, while guys like Kyle Turris and JVR (drafted 2nd and 3rd overall in 2007) were still learning down there. This is ridiculous.
If Gauthier actually wants to play him in the NHL, he'd be better off just spending 2M on getting a guy like Torres or Guerin on a short-term deal. That'd be better, we could afford one of them, and Pacioretty would get to learn how to play pro. Because right now, each and every single of his decisions with the puck are 1 second late.
In the end it all depends on how well the camp goes, because if he's playing like a top-6 player, throwing hits, scoring goals and all that stuff then he should make the team. If he's playing a soft game then he needs to stay in the AHL. I hope everyone agrees with that.
