And it's tough to hold up in world football once you pass 30, look at Henry who had an unbelievably good season at 28, had injury problems at 29, and has never reached those heights again.

Gerrard is 30 now, it's very, very possible that his 28 year-old season was his swansong. I hope it's not, he's one of the most dynamic midfielders ever, but it's a significant possibility. The grind of the European season now is brutal.
