The moving of Gagne almost seems as if it were made specifically to move JVR to the top left wing position. It's put up or shut up time for the number 2 overall. And no, 40 points in his second season would be a drastic disappointment. At the very least, JVR should look to put up an additional 25 to 30 points on his rookie year.
If he gets consistent PP time then yes, 40 points is a dissapointment, but do you see him getting that time?
are all locks for consistent PP time at forward, with Leino and JVR sniffing some scraps.
