As usual, the Kings are forgotten in these threads... Ahem... :p
He hit a patch of ice during the Olympic break a couple years ago on his way to see his son Brady play in Wisconsin in a high school tournament.
If he wasn't wearing his seatbelt, he'd be dead as his car veered off the road down an embankment some 300 or more feet. He had several deep lacerations, four broken ribs an injured shoulder and a concussion (which is good seeing as all of his players have them too these days). He was out almost a month.
He missed a number of games.. in his stead, Dave Tippett took the helm and among other things, finally put together the line AM refused to put together (Palffy/Allison/Deadmarsh) which when healthy is one of the top 2 or 3 scoring lines in hockey.
I guess you could say the car accident was the real start of all the Kings injuries...
