Not really sure if its a good tip, but I've seen plenty of players have new skates on them in the sauna...

But a real tip is to not let it get too bad, the pain. Its better to rest, even if its not really possible. I've personally played through camp like situations to win spots on teams, through a helluva lot of pain, to then be forced to rest for weeks to get rid of some real ugly inflations...
